Terms of Use

By using Syria Trails (the "App") you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.

  1. Who we are. The App is operated by Anas Akramah (independent developer) ("we").
  2. The service. A geographic and heritage atlas of Syria: map, landmarks, trips, saved places and a visit log. Content is a work in progress and grows over time. The service is not a booking platform and sells no travel services.
  3. Age. You must be at least 13; if you are under the age of majority where you live, use the App with a parent or guardian's consent.
  4. Your account. You may use the App as a guest or with an email account. Rating requires a registered account and a verified visit to the place. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under it.
  5. Accuracy and your safety. We try to be accurate, but locations, descriptions and photos may be wrong or out of date, and conditions, roads and security change. Check ground conditions and the authorities' guidance before any trip; your safety is your responsibility. The App does not replace judgement on the ground and is not meant to encourage you to enter an unsafe area.
  6. Borders and names. Administrative boundaries and names are shown as they appear in the public data sources used; they express no political position and no recognition of any border.
  7. Acceptable use. Do not abuse the service, try to manipulate visit verification, ratings or counters, bypass rate limits, scrape data at scale, or send abusive, misleading or unlawful content. We limit requests to protect the service and may restrict or suspend an account for abuse.
  8. Visits and ratings. Verifying a visit depends on your location at the moment you ask and on anti-forgery rules; we may reject or remove a visit or rating we believe is forged. A rating is stars only.
  9. Your suggestions. By sending an edit suggestion you give us a non-exclusive, perpetual right to use it to improve content, with no duty to publish it and no payment.
  10. Content and ownership. The App's texts, design and software are ours or licensed to us. Landmark photos carry their owner's name and licence as displayed, and their licence governs their use. Do not copy or republish the content commercially without permission, except as the displayed photo licences allow.
  11. Availability. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", with no guarantee that it is uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features.
  12. Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damage or loss arising from relying on the information, from an interruption of the service, or from a trip you take. This does not exclude what the law does not allow to be excluded.
  13. Privacy. The Privacy Policy governs what data we collect and how we process it.
  14. Deletion and termination. You may delete your account at any time from "Account → Security" or by request to the email below. We may stop the service for you if you breach these terms.
  15. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the competent courts in Jeddah have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
  16. Changes. We may update these terms. We tell you in the app about material changes before they take effect, and your continued use afterwards means you accept them.
